Maybe the Pause is Part of the Path
It has been a while since my last blog post.
I wasn’t intending to take a break. But sometimes a break just happens.
For a while, I had been feeling uninspired, tired, and lacking clarity and direction. You may know the feeling. It felt like I was swimming upstream, and things that normally came easily suddenly felt like a chore—even writing a blog post.
And then, instead of simply allowing myself to feel that way, I began to get frustrated with myself.
Why can’t I get out of this rut?
What is wrong with me?
Why am I feeling this way?
Where is the clarity?
I kept searching for an answer, thinking that if I tried a little harder, pushed a little more, or figured out what was “wrong,” I could get myself moving again.
But eventually, I decided to try something different.
I gave myself some space.
I let go of some of the expectations I had placed on myself. I cleared a few commitments from my schedule. I took longer, slower walks. I spent more time on my yoga mat. I allowed myself to notice my thoughts without judgment and to tune in to what my body and my heart were feeling.
Most importantly, I let go of the need to fix anything.
I simply let myself be.
And somewhere in that space, I began to realize something.
Maybe nothing was wrong.
Maybe this season of stillness wasn’t something I needed to push through. Maybe it was something I needed to honor.
A seed doesn’t look like it is doing much when it is buried beneath the soil. There is no visible growth. No flowers. No fruit. Nothing to show for its time in the darkness.
And yet, something important is happening.
The seed is germinating.
Perhaps our desires, intentions, dreams, and next chapters need that same kind of darkness and quiet. Perhaps they need time beneath the surface before they are ready to emerge.
We live in a world that celebrates action, productivity, and forward momentum. We are encouraged to keep going, keep producing, keep achieving.
But there is wisdom in rest, too.
Deep rest can be the place where something new begins.
When we stop gripping so tightly for answers, clarity has room to arrive. When we stop demanding inspiration, creativity has room to return. When we stop forcing the next step, we can begin to feel the natural flow of life carrying us again.
Motivation, creativity, inspiration, and clarity have their own timing.
We don’t have to chase them.
Sometimes we simply need to create enough quiet for them to find us.
So, if you are in a season where you feel tired, uninspired, uncertain, or simply not quite yourself, perhaps there is nothing you need to fix.
Perhaps you are germinating.
Perhaps something new is quietly taking root.
Give yourself permission to rest. Take the slower walk. Spend a little longer on your yoga mat. Sit quietly. Listen to your body. Listen to your heart.
Take a breath.
Take a nap.
Let yourself be.
The next chapter will reveal itself when it is ready.
And maybe the pause isn’t keeping you from the path.
Maybe the pause is part of the path.
